Subject: "The Physical Embodiment of PCW." Triumph Wed Sep 18, 2024 2:43 pm
“I don’t think, at this stage, there are too many people left that doubt James Christ - especially after Standing Room Only. Especially after I took the odds-on favorite, the man who many dubbed as the hottest talent within the company - and beat him in a brutal, hellacious ladder match to retain MY Prodigy championship.”
“Sawyer and I were on two identical, parallel paths in this company - sooner or later, one of us would edge out the other, establishing themselves as the true future face of this company. That is exactly what I did, and when I did so - I made a statement. It’s a cliche narrative in this industry to proclaim to be the future of this, future of that, blah blah - we get it, right? I mean, we’ve all heard it before. But after I defeated Sawyer - perhaps the second best athlete in this company, right behind myself - I didn’t claim to be anything; I became the physical embodiment of ‘the future’. I became the guy that this company needs to build itself around - and now we find ourselves in Season Two and, low and behold, look where I am.”
“Main eventing.”
“The Prodigy Champion - the longest reigning champion in PCW history - main eventing, but where oh where is our world champion? Probably still off licking his wounds after that match with Sabertooth - who is, also, booked. That’s an interesting look, champ. But we’ll cross that bridge soon, no doubt. Before I get there though, let’s backtrack a few steps. Season two kickoff Triumph - main event - Prodigy Championship match. Yours truly; the champion of champions in PCW, the only champion that matters - versus Cyrus, the Warlord and a couple of other fun little nicknames that, at the end of the day, are meaningless. But, hey, you gotta’ attempt to sound cool to the regular viewers of the industry, right?”
“Let me start off by saying, congratulations Cy. Congratulations that you made it through the Extreme Elevation match. Congratulations by beating - the bottom of the barrel. How’s it feel to slide your feet into the shoes that I’ve worn since my arrival here? How’s it feel to stand head and shoulders above the mediocre? The only person in that match with any sort of reputation is Nobi, and we all know how much he’s fallen off. Long gone are the days of World Champion Nobi.”
“But you? Oh, you’re the Cornerstone right? Cornerstone of.. What exactly? That’s the difference between you and I, Cy. You need to create this illusion, this myth, of being a vital piece of the building block - while I’m the real deal. I don’t need to call myself anything, let alone cliche nicknames, to get over. I did so by myself, and with the sweat on my brow - I have legitimately built my status, earned my clout, and solidified my name. I said from the beginning, I was here to carve out my own path - and I have done exactly that. I said that only the best deserve to hold championship gold - and I have become the motherfucking best. Week in, week out - eliminating anyone who dares to step up, most notably and recently Sawyer - defending this championship constantly, becoming THE champion to see here in PCW.”
“So I look at you, and I think to myself - is this another me, or is Cyrus just another flashy nickname in an industry overpopulated by them? Is Cyrus legitimate, or is he smoke and mirrors? Well, that remains to be seen. I know you’ll talk in circles, using analogies that no one understands until the second or third playthrough of your little video - all to say the same thing that everyone before you has said. I know you’ll promise victory, claim yourself as a God - as you did in the lead up to the Elevation match - and threaten me with violence, indicating that you know nothing of me or how I fight. But nothing ‘till now in your stay here tells me whether or not you’re going to be a true contender to me. All I’m seeing is a bunch of Introductory wrestling school dropouts as your defeated opponents, and all I’m hearing is the same recycled mess that the people before you have said. ‘I’m going to be the next Prodigy champion.’, it’s an empty promise one hundred percent of the time.”
“You truly think you’re ready for this, Cy - I can hear it when you talk. But, here’s the news -- you’re not, and it’s my job to put you in your place and remind you of where you belong. Chasing. Chasing the title, chasing the dream, and chasing me.”
“I’m not just a champion that you have in your sights, Cyrus. I’m the champion. As Prodigy champion, I’ve beaten former World champions, not to mention that I’ve defended this championship more than any other former champion has. I’m the longest reigning champion in this company's history, and it’s not going to end to some man trying so hard to be an edgy-alternative to what's out there, yet still falls into the cookie cutter mold. The Prodigy championship overshadows the World Championship by leaps and bounds, and I’m the reason.”
“Without a lick of ‘pro wrestling’ training, I came into this company - and knocked it out. Literally. Each and every opponent either by knock out or tap out. But since then, I feel asif I’ve picked up a couple of things to add to my arsenal. I’ve evolved past being just the striker that can put someone asleep with a knee, or make a limb snap with some pressure. Now I’ve evolved into one of the most dangerous men on this roster. I am, and forever will be, the most dominant Prodigy champion - and this is just the beginning.”
“See you at Triumph, Cyrus. I’ll be the one arriving with, and leaving with, the Prodigy championship.”
